The Famishly team built this because talented home cooks rarely have a simple, trustworthy way to earn from what they love doing - and food lovers rarely have a way to find the authentic, homemade cuisine that restaurants do not offer.

How does Famishly keep food trustworthy?

Famishly combines buyer protection, transparent reviews, and secure payments to make every order feel safe.

• 1Escrow buyer protection. When you place an order on Famishly, your payment is held in escrow and only released to the cook after you confirm you received the order. Your money is never at risk while a dispute is open.
• 2Verified public reviews and real food photos. Every cook on Famishly builds a public reputation through verified reviews and ratings left by real buyers. Real food photos on listings mean you see exactly what you are ordering before you commit.
• 3In-app messaging. Famishly gives buyers and cooks a built-in messaging channel so you can ask about ingredients, allergens, spice levels, or portion sizes before placing an order.
• 4Secure payments via Stripe. All transactions on Famishly are processed by Stripe, one of the world's most trusted payment processors. Famishly never stores full card details.

How are cooks vetted on Famishly?

Cooks on Famishly earn their reputation publicly through verified buyer reviews and ratings - a track record that every visitor can read before ordering.

Famishly asks every cook to follow the food-safety rules that apply in their province or municipality. Home-based food regulations vary by jurisdiction across Canada, and each cook is responsible for complying with the rules where they operate.

To receive payouts, every cook goes through Stripe's identity and banking verification process. This confirms legal name, address, and banking details - the same standard used by other Stripe-powered marketplaces across Canada.

Famishly monitors dispute and chargeback rates on cook accounts and takes action - including payout holds - when patterns suggest problems. This protects both buyers and the honest cooks who make up the majority of the Famishly community.
