What is Famishly?

Famishly is a marketplace for home cooks - think Etsy, but for food. You build a public storefront, list your dishes with photos and prices, and customers order and pay online. You handle pickup or delivery; Famishly handles the storefront, payments, and order management.

The typical Famishly cook accepts pre-orders during the week and does one or two pickup windows on the weekend. Some run full weekly menus. Others pop up once a month. You set your own hours, your own menu, and your own prices.

How much does it cost?

9% on online orders only - 8% to Famishly, 1% to a food charity your customer picks, plus a 2% buyer service fee (so 2% total reaches charity). Cash in person: 0%.
Stripe processing - about 3% + 30c per online transaction. Same rate as Square or PayPal.

How to get started

Four required steps to take your first order, plus two optional ones to unlock more income.

    Create a free account

    Enter your email and a password. Choose "Home cook" during setup. About 2 minutes.

    Build your kitchen page

    3 minrequired

    Add your kitchen name, a banner photo, and a short bio about what you cook. This becomes your public storefront URL.

    Add your dishes

    5 minrequired

    List 3 to 5 of your best dishes with a photo and a price. Good natural-light photos sell 3x better. You can add more any time.

    Connect Stripe payouts

    5 minrequired

    Link your bank account through Stripe. Takes about 5 minutes and is required before your first payout.

    Set a pickup window

    Tell customers when and where to pick up. Optionally add a capacity cap - the system stops taking orders when you are full.

    Open pre-orders

    Mark a product as pre-order with an open and close date. Customers can now place orders in advance for your next pickup.

Common questions

Do I need a food handler certificate?

Famishly does not require one to sign up, but local health regulations may apply to your situation. In most Canadian provinces, home cooks selling under a certain revenue threshold are exempt. Check your local rules - many home cooks operate legally without a commercial kitchen.

Can I do delivery instead of pickup?

Yes. You can enable delivery on your storefront, set a delivery radius, and charge a delivery fee. Orders with delivery show in your dashboard alongside pickup orders.

What if I want to cancel an order?

You can cancel from your dashboard at any time before the pickup window. The customer is automatically refunded. Repeated cancellations affect your standing score.

How do I become a Caterer on Famishly?

Caterer status is earned, not applied for. Once your lifetime payouts cross $500, it unlocks automatically and you can begin accepting catering event bookings. The threshold is small on purpose - it just verifies that you have real experience.

Can I also sell at a farmers market through Famishly?

Yes. You can add Vendor mode to your account at any time from Account Modes. Vendor mode lets you join markets, use the market-day QR, and appear in the markets section of the app.

Is there a free plan?

Yes - all of the above is on the free plan. Famishly Pro ($12.99/month) adds featured placement in search, a Pro badge, a custom storefront theme, and a direct marketing tool for sending updates to followers.
