Ingredients

  • 1 lb package phyllo dough
  • 2 cups chopped walnuts and pistachios
  • 1 cup melted unsalted butter
  • 5 ml cinnamon
  • 1.25 ml cloves
  • 240 ml sugar
  • 120 ml water
  • 120 ml honey
  • 15 ml lemon juice
  • 10 ml rose water

  1. Step 1.Make syrup: boil sugar, water, honey, lemon, rosewater. Cool.
  2. Step 2.Layer 8 sheets phyllo in buttered pan, brushing each with butter.
  3. Step 3.Spread nut-cinnamon mixture. Layer 4 more sheets. Repeat layers.
  4. Step 4.Top with 8 final sheets. Score into diamond shapes. Bake at 350F 45 min until golden.
  5. Step 5.Immediately pour cold syrup over hot baklava.
