Ingredients

- 4 ripe tomatoes, large, ripe
- 250 g fresh mozzarella (or buffalo mozzarella)
- 15 g fresh basil leaves
- 45 ml extra virgin olive oil
- 3 g flaky sea salt, to taste
- 1 g black pepper, optional
Make it your way
Instructions
- Step 1.Bring the tomatoes and mozzarella to room temperature for the best flavor and texture.
- Step 2.Slice the tomatoes into rounds about 1 cm thick.
- Step 3.Slice the mozzarella into rounds of similar thickness.
- Step 4.Arrange the tomato and mozzarella slices alternating and slightly overlapping on a serving plate.
- Step 5.Tuck whole fresh basil leaves between the slices.
- Step 6.Drizzle the extra virgin olive oil evenly over the top.
- Step 7.Sprinkle with flaky sea salt and a little black pepper if using.
- Step 8.Serve immediately at room temperature; do not refrigerate after assembling. Traditionally no balsamic vinegar is added.
