- 60 ml butter
- 60 ml all-purpose flour
- 480 ml milk
- 2.5 ml salt
- 1.25 ml white pepper
- pinch nutmeg

Instructions
- Step 1.Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
- Step 2.Whisk in flour and cook 2 minutes until pale gold (the roux).
- Step 3.Add milk gradually while whisking constantly to prevent lumps.
- Step 4.Cook, stirring, until sauce thickens and coats a spoon, about 8 minutes.
- Step 5.Season with salt, white pepper, and nutmeg.
