Ingredients
4 servings
- 240 ml red or yellow lentils
- 1 onion
- 2 tomatoes
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 inch ginger
- 2.5 ml turmeric
- 5 ml cumin seeds
- 2.5 ml mustard seeds
- 2 dried red chili
- 30 ml butter or oil
- to garnish coriander leaves
Make it your way
Instructions
- Step 1.Boil lentils with turmeric until soft, 20 min.
- Step 2.Saute onion until golden. Add garlic, ginger, tomatoes. Cook 10 min.
- Step 3.Combine with lentils. Simmer 10 min.
- Step 4.Make tadka: heat butter, add cumin, mustard, dried chili until sputtering.
- Step 5.Pour tadka over dal. Garnish with coriander.
